This Rounding Hammer is designed for blacksmiths who need a powerful, durable, and reliable tool for everyday forging. Hand-forged from AISI 1045 steel, the hammer head is hardened and tempered to approximately 52–56 HRC, providing a balance of hardness and toughness for demanding work at the forge.
With a total weight of 4.32 lbs (1.96 kg) and an overall length of 13.77" (350 mm), this hammer delivers substantial striking power while maintaining the control needed for shaping and moving hot steel. Its rounding design makes it a practical choice for a wide range of forging operations, including drawing out, shaping, and refining metal.
The handle is made from ash wood with a natural oil finish. Ash is a traditional handle material valued for its strength, resilience, and ability to absorb some of the shock generated during forging. The hammer head is securely fitted to the handle with a steel wedge for a solid connection during manual use.
